We had a busy weekend! Let me start this post to wishing Grandpa S. a very happy 81st birthday! It was great to spend Sunday with the fam, celebrating Grandpa's big day :)
Another huge birthday wish goes out to the West Side Market, one of our most favorite places on earth! Saturday (June 2) marked the kick off of the centennial celebrations for the good ole' WSM. Festivities included speeches from Mayor Frank Jackson, Councilman Joe Cimperman and the Ohio Historical Society President, Richard Prasse, as well as music, dancing, a free Mitchell's Ice Cream social and fireworks at night. The mayor cut the ribbon on the new Market Square and OHS President Richard Prasse officially dedicated two new historical markers, #109-18 and #110-18, West Side Market and Market Square (respectively).
We arrived to the festivities early so that we could do a little shopping at the market and were able to snap some photos of the markers before they were prepped for their official debut and were able to snap some photos of the market and Market Square before too many people showed up.
This weekend's events are only the beginning of the centennial celebrations. I will keep you updated, or you can check out the Ohio City's website here. I am excited for all of the fabulous events coming up this year!
Happy birthday West Side Market, here's to another delicious 100 years!!
